Mahieu Construct is a general contractor for commercial buildings, with expertise in areas including logistics and storage facilities, production halls, and office spaces. \u201cWe have two of our own steel workshops as well as a workshop for prefabricated concrete panels and columns,\u201d says Felix. \u201cThat allows us to produce whatever the client wants. In most construction projects, a choice is made between steel or concrete. \u201cBoth materials have their own advantages, but they can be used together perfectly,\u201d he explains. \u201cConcrete is highly fire-resistant, but steel allows for more architectural design flexibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Building Together<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Beyond practical considerations, this combination also makes the process more affordable for the client. Felix: \u201cWe have greater control over production and, thanks to vertical integration, can estimate the total cost much more precisely. It also gives us the opportunity to try new things and offer innovative solutions to our clients.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

At the heart of Mahieu\u2019s DNA is the motto \u2018building together.\u2019<\/em> \u201cAnd we truly mean that,\u201d he says. \u201cWe collaborate with the architect and engineering firm, but also with the client themselves. Is what they have in mind really the best way to achieve the desired outcome? We also keep our lines of communication very short.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

This results in a smooth process from project start to completion. \u201cWe have a lot of in-house expertise that makes the process as painless as possible. Take loading and unloading docks, for example\u2014those involve very specific requirements. Their construction essentially starts with the foundations, which means our salespeople already need to have a strong understanding of the client\u2019s needs and wishes from the very beginning.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Long-Term Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n

In response to changing climate conditions, Mahieu Construct has increasingly focused on sustainability in recent years. Recycling, waste separation on construction sites, the choice of materials and how to recycle them… \u201cIt\u2019s not always easy to become more sustainable in our sector,\u201d Felix admits. \u201cWe manage to do so by thinking long-term. We look for materials that can be maximally recycled, and above all, we aim to build in such a way that our clients won\u2019t need to think about recycling for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Looking Forward to Transport & Logistics<\/strong><\/p>\n

This October, the Transport & Logistics fair will once again take place in Antwerp, this time co-hosted with the breakbulk expo AntwerpXL. \u201cWe\u2019re really looking forward to it,\u201d says Felix. \u201cWe\u2019ve already completed many projects in the Flemish ports, and it\u2019s always beneficial to be present to reconnect with all our contacts. You meet only your target audience there\u2014that\u2019s always interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve participated in about four editions so far and have always been pleased with the results. It\u2019s also always an enjoyable experience, made possible by strong organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
