Case Borro: A smart system for reusable cups
Borro is an innovative circular cup system that brings both sustainability and business innovation to the events sector. In less than a year, Borro has grown to become a partner to football clubs, festivals and events in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France. Organisations such as Club Brugge and AZ Alkmaar, and PSG Labs in Paris, have opted for Borro’s digital deposit-and-return system. It replaces disposable cups with reusable ones, whilst prioritising maximum ease of use: visitors to a football match or festival receive their drink in a sturdy reusable cup, for which a small cashless deposit is automatically reserved on their payment card. Once you’ve finished your drink, you simply drop the cup into a Borro return point; no app, no scanning, no hassle. The system automatically recognises the cup and immediately releases the deposit. In this way, sustainable behaviour becomes the ‘path of least resistance’ and is therefore virtually frictionless for both the user and the organiser.
Case Comate: Comate maakt technologie klaar voor de praktijk
From the initial concept to a reliable, industrial-scale solution: Comate combines engineering, design and manufacturing to turn innovative ideas into products that make a difference both today and tomorrow.
At Transport & Logistics, Comate will be showcasing three projects that demonstrate how technology can make logistics processes smarter, more efficient and more sustainable. The Zeal Runner automates order picking and takes collaboration between humans and robots to the next level. Pickit 3D enables parts to be detected quickly and accurately and picked automatically, even in challenging industrial environments. And with Slimbox, boxes are custom-made on demand, reducing the amount of packaging material and transport volume required by businesses.
Three different applications, one shared ambition: to make logistics processes more efficient through technology that is not only innovative, but also genuinely works in practice.
Superellipse Case Study: Design solutions ranging from food packaging to vaccine transport
How can design help to transform complex challenges in transport and logistics into smart, innovative solutions? Pieter Lesage, founder of the design and innovation agency Superellipse, demonstrates how design goes far beyond aesthetics. Using inspiring case studies, he demonstrates how design can contribute to smarter transport, temperature control and sustainable packaging solutions. This involves not only technical challenges, but also ease of use and entering new market segments.
An inspiring story about how design, technology and innovation come together to turn complex challenges into new opportunities.
