Flemish field trials show the impact of urban logistics: up to 55% fewer delivery trips

Up to 55% fewer delivery trips, 29% lower delivery costs, more efficient logistics for local entrepreneurs, and a new destination for 1.42 tonnes of food surplus. These Flemish pilot projects in Ghent, Leuven, and Mechelen demonstrate that collaboration between cities, logistics partners, and local entrepreneurs leads to more efficient deliveries, fewer transport movements, and concrete societal impact. Within the European GREEN-LOG project, VIL and its partners developed and tested a digital platform that strengthens this collaboration and organizes urban logistics more efficiently.

The Flemish pilot projects show that cooperation between cities, logistics partners, and local entrepreneurs leads to measurable economic, ecological, and societal impact. The experiences gained are being shared with other European cities.
