De Driehoekshoeve sustainably harnesses solar energy with a vanadium flow battery.

EcoSourcen developed an innovative energy solution for De Driehoekshoeve, enabling efficient solar energy storage through a vanadium flow battery.

De Driehoekshoeve, located in Kasterlee, combines a modern calf-farming operation with a holiday accommodation business and is strongly committed to sustainable energy. As its solar power production continued to grow, it became increasingly important to make better use of the generated electricity. Without storage, a significant portion of the solar energy was either wasted or fed back into the grid at a low return.

To address this challenge, EcoSourcen developed an innovative energy solution. The existing solar installation was expanded by 25 kWp, enabling De Driehoekshoeve to generate even more green electricity for its own consumption. In addition, an 80 kWh vanadium redox flow battery was installed to store surplus solar energy for later use, maximizing self-consumption and energy efficiency.

The choice of a vanadium flow battery was deliberate. Compared to traditional lithium-based systems, this technology offers an exceptionally long lifespan, is non-flammable, and uses materials that can be produced and recycled in Europe. As a result, De Driehoekshoeve benefits from a safe, robust, and future-proof energy storage solution.

The installation includes two ES Flow systems. Through the intelligent control platform provided by Eniris, both the solar panels and battery are managed in an optimal way. The project was installed in collaboration with Green Power Future. This investment marks an important step toward greater energy independence and a more sustainable operation.
