EcoSourcen helped AFT International achieve 70% energy independence with 430 kWh of battery storage and a smart EMS that maximizes the value of its solar energy production.

Over the past few years, AFT International has invested heavily in renewable energy and sought to make better use of its solar power generation. Its existing photovoltaic installation produced approximately 204 MWh of electricity annually, covering 39% of the company’s total energy consumption. However, around 108 MWh per year was still exported to the grid, often at low or even negative market prices due to dynamic energy tariffs.

To address this challenge, EcoSourcen developed an integrated solution combining battery storage with smart energy management. AFT International invested in two Risen Storage batteries of 215 kWh each, providing a total storage capacity of 430 kWh. This enables excess solar energy to be stored on-site and used later or strategically deployed based on market conditions.

The batteries and public EV charging stations are managed through the Eniris Energy Management System (EMS) in cooperation with Scholt Energy. The EMS maximizes self-consumption, reduces grid injection, and optimizes charging and discharging schedules according to dynamic electricity prices and flexibility markets.

For the implementation of the project, EcoSourcen worked together with installation partner Green Power Future, while ES Integrations handled the study, engineering, installation, commissioning, and grid integration of the battery systems, solar installation, and charging infrastructure.

As a result, AFT International has achieved approximately 70% energy independence. More of its solar energy is consumed locally, energy costs have been reduced, and the company now benefits from a future-proof energy solution that combines sustainability, flexibility, and economic value.
