Discover how EcoSourcen helped Hoek 76 Business Park maximize its solar energy with a sustainable ES Flow battery.

Hoek 76 Business Park is a modern office building where sustainability and efficient energy use are key priorities. Although the building already had a 30 kWp solar installation, a significant portion of the electricity generated could not be consumed on-site immediately. As a result, excess power was fed back into the grid at low compensation rates, limiting the full value of the solar installation.

To address this challenge, EcoSourcen developed a smart and sustainable energy solution. The existing solar power system was complemented with an ES Flow battery (8 kW | 40 kWh), enabling a much larger share of the renewable electricity generated on-site to be stored and used later. This increases self-consumption and reduces reliance on the electricity grid.

The choice of a vanadium flow battery was deliberate due to its key advantages: an exceptionally long lifespan, a high level of safety, and a sustainable design that aligns with the business park’s long-term vision. This investment prepares Hoek 76 for a future in which energy autonomy and smart energy management are increasingly important.

The battery is managed through Victron Energy’s intelligent control system, ensuring optimal use of the available solar energy. The installation was professionally carried out by Green Power Future, EcoSourcen’s installation partner.

By combining renewable energy generation, storage, and smart energy management, Hoek 76 has taken an important step toward greater sustainability, increased energy independence, and a lower environmental footprint.
